Autism Resilience and Recovery Package

What's Inside?
This package has been designed as a practical, frontline resource to support safe and effective engagement with autistic individuals in high-pressure environments. It includes three key components:
-
Autism Awareness Tips for First Responders – A structured 5-step guide supporting responders to recognise indicators of autism, apply effective communication strategies, de-escalate situations, and provide appropriate support in emergency settings. This resource is provided in both A4 wall-display format and postcard size for portability.
-
I Have Autism Card – A communication tool designed to reduce anxiety and support clarity during interactions. The card can be carried by an autistic individual or their carer, or used by a first responder to initiate respectful, supportive communication and build rapport. It is available in two sizes for convenience.
-
Autism Support Line Flyer – Information about the Autism Support Line, available 7 days a week from 8am–10pm. Trained staff provide listening support, guidance, and referrals where needed. The service is free and can be accessed by calling 1800 288 115 or texting 0488 697 728. Face-to-face call-outs are available on the Gold Coast for a fee. Flyers are provided in both display and portable sizes.
Each package includes a short instruction letter outlining how to integrate these tools into everyday practice, when to use them in live scenarios, and where to refer individuals and families for ongoing assistance. The intention is not only to improve immediate interactions, but to ensure individuals are connected to appropriate, ongoing supports beyond the initial response.
